Your practitioner/assessor will review your ADHD Assessment Intake form prior to your pre-assessment consultation.
You will attend a pre-assessment consultation, which will include our practitioner undertaking a DIVA-5 questionnaire with you. This will support them to determine the most appropriate diagnostic tools to use as a part of your assessment. During this consultation, you will discuss your concerns, symptoms, and any relevant medical or psychological history. The healthcare professional may ask questions about your childhood, education, work, relationships, and overall functioning.
Following this consultation several online questionnaires are emailed for you to complete at home. Symptom Assessment: To assess ADHD symptoms, our healthcare professional may use various standardised questionnaires or rating scales. These assessments typically involve questions about inattentiveness, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and how these symptoms affect different areas of your life. Psychological Evaluation: A psychological evaluation may involve psychological tests to assess your cognitive functioning, emotional wellbeing, and overall mental health. This evaluation can help identify any coexisting conditions or determine if the symptoms are primarily related to ADHD. Our healthcare professional will compare your symptoms and functional impairment to the diagnostic criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) published by the American Psychiatric Association. ADHD diagnosis typically requires the presence of specific symptoms and evidence of impairment in multiple settings.
Your practitioner/assessor will compile a diagnostic summary report and treatment plan to be provided to your GP or specialist. Should you wish to pursue formal diagnosis for medication review Allied Health for Wellness can assist with a referral pathway to a local telehealth psychiatric service. Or you can discus alternate options with your GP.
You will attend an additional feedback session to finalise the assessment and discuss the screening results. This may also be of benefit if you want to discuss our psychological services for psychoeducation or ADHD coaching to better understand your diagnosis.
