- Should you choose to proceed with a diagnostic assessment after your pre-assessment consultation, you will be issued a selection of online tools which you will need to complete so that your assessor can review the results and assess whether you have met the diagnostic criteria.
- We will provide your GP or referring specialist with a detailed written report approximately 2 weeks from your completion of the online assessment tools. This summary will outline the assessment results and recommendations for interventions. You may opt to consult with your GP for referral to a Psychiatrist to explore formal diagnosis and medication or treatment options.
- You may choose to book a post-assessment consultation if you would like to be provided additional feedback on the assessment outcome and to discuss potential engagement in further psychological support or ADHD coaching services with one of our team to better understand your diagnosis.
- Diagnosis and Treatment Plan: Based on the assessment findings, a psychiatrist may provide a diagnosis or, if appropriate, discuss other possible explanations for your symptoms. They will then develop a treatment plan, which may include a combination of medication, psychoeducation, therapy, behavioural interventions, and lifestyle changes.
- If you were referred to Allied Health for Wellness under a mental health care plan via your GP you may continue to use these sessions to provide support, counselling and psychoeducation.
This assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis of ADHD. Our psychologists can only recommend a diagnosis of ADHD if all the required diagnostic criteria are met. The summary letter provided can be helpful when requesting study related or workplace accommodations.
Allied Health for Wellness can provide support and a referral pathway to a local telehealth psychiatric service post diagnostic assessment.
Please note, psychologists are not medical practitioners and do not prescribe medication. You will need to see a psychiatrist if you wish to explore medication options and formal diagnosis, a further assessment may be required at the discretion of the psychiatrist.
